Step-by-Step Guide: How to Launch and Embed My Teaching Hive Resources

Step 2: Launch in a Staff meeting
- Introduce the resources in a dedicated session.
- Share how texts support genre coverage, reading for pleasure, and skill development.
- Demonstrate use across year groups.
- Highlight alignment with National Curriculum reading objectives.

Step 3: Deepen Understanding: Follow Up CPD
In a second staff meeting, choose a focus to deepen teaching practice:

- Modelling & Scaffolding
- Promoting Reading for Pleasure
- Resource Audit and Prioritisation

Step 4: Embed and Assess
- Use embedded formative assessment to monitor reading skill progression.
- Assessment methods include:
- Short written tasks
- Verbal responses and partner talk
- One-to-one fluency check-ins
- Use evidence to adapt and refine practice.
- Optionally, dip into summative assessments (e.g. termly comprehension papers) for broader insights.
Don’t forget:
- Revisit regularly to check for updates or new resources.
- Review impact and make adjustments as needed.

2. You may have some of these texts in school already, otherwise they can be purchased easily online. We recommend at least one copy per class. For picture books, we recommend one copy per table.
